Litigation Search Services

We offer a complete range of litigation support services which includes Litigation searches, Court Filings and Process Serving covering all of Ontario and across Canada. Through our electronic access across the Canada network of professionals we can obtain information or physical copies of any litigation court file across the country. Services are available for Superior Court, Small Claims Court, Court of Appeal, Federal Court and Tax Court.

I. Litigation Searches

As part of our commitment to providing organized professional services a detailed summary report outlining the most relevant case details will be provided with every Litigation search conducted. If multiple cases exist we can also supply a detailed summary report outlining the key details for each case. Should you require additional information our staff can obtain copies of any court documents.

For complex cases or searches that result in an exceptionally large number of matches there are options available, see below.

Ordering Files - Due to storage issues many court files have to be ordered from off-site locations, which may result in delays and increased costs to obtain the file. Obtaining files in Ontario can take anywhere from 5 to 10 business days and may cost $61.00 depending on the status of the case. Clients will be notified immediately of additional fees and processing time.

Government fees - Applies for searches at some court locations throughout Ontario and Canada.

Processing times - Vary for searches conducted outside Toronto and throughout Canada.

Search Currency dates - In Ontario, according to the new FRANK court system the records are current to the previous business day. However, when documents are issued/filed they are sent to the data-entry department where the case details are fully entered - parties, solicitor's, case type, document type(s) etc. Therefore, at the time the search is conducted only limited information may be available until the documents have been completed by the data-entry department.

Litigation Search Options

A) Screen Prints - A 'screen print' is a print out from the Superior Court database showing all cases that appear based on the subject name searched. Additional fees may apply to obtain screen prints.

The Ontario Superior Court database in Toronto will only display up to one thousand cases. For searches that result in more than one thousand cases we will be unable to accurately determine whether all records are found and reported on the specific individual or business name. The Superior Court computer systems vary across the Province and across Canada and this option is not available in all areas.

Screen Prints or their equivalent are not available in all Provinces.

Conditions: Prices listed apply to each name searched. Summary reports of case details are provided for each litigation search conducted. Additional charges may apply for return trips to the court to obtain copies of files, case histories or screen prints. Screen prints are not available in all court locations. Files ordered from storage can take anywhere from 5 to 10 business days depending on the age of the file. Searches conducted outside Toronto or Ontario take a minimum of 24 to 48 and will vary by court location. Agent fees are additional. All Government, agent, copy and fax fees, where applicable, are in addition to the fees listed and billed as disbursements.
